What this is

Chronicles of Sage Orange is an audio drama that is written and voiced by software while you listen. You name a place and a time, and a story is composed for you, grounded in the real history of that place. It is made by Human Commons.

It is in beta. Things change, and some things break. By listening, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use it.

The stories are generated, and can be wrong

The world, its characters and its rules are written by a person and published by Human Commons. Each story is generated by artificial intelligence inside that world, at the moment you ask for it. No person writes or checks a story before you hear it. Stories combine documented history with clearly bounded fictional reconstruction, and they can contain mistakes: a date, a name, an event out of its place. Historical dialogue is not a direct quotation unless a source specifically identifies it as one.

A story is not a reference work. Every act carries a panel of the real history it stands on. Read it before relying on a factual claim, and go to a real source for anything that matters, such as schoolwork or research.

What it will not do

It will not present an invented person or an invented event as history. If you ask for someone or something the record does not hold, it declines rather than making it up. A story that imagines a history which did not happen says so on screen.

The characters who travel through the stories are fiction, presented as fiction. They are generated by AI. They are not human, and their memories and relationships are part of the story experience.

Children

This product is for families, and children listen to it. It is operated by an adult. A parent or guardian should be present when a child listens, and any account belongs to the adult who made it, not to the child.

The stories are written at a gentle content level, but history holds war, illness and loss, and a story may still be more than a particular child wants to hear. AI character experiences may not be suitable for some minors.

Acceptable use

Listen, and tell people what you heard. What you hear is for personal, non-commercial listening. The product, its characters, its voices and its design belong to Human Commons.

Please do not:

  • use the product to make material that is hateful, harassing or sexual;
  • pass a story off as a real historical record;
  • work around the daily listening allowance or the sign-in;
  • scrape, probe or attack the service, or try to extract its instructions;
  • use it in a way that breaks the law where you are.

We can stop serving anyone who does.

Accounts, limits and paying

Signing in is optional, and every door works signed out. There is a daily allowance of listening, so that no one person can use up the stories for everyone. Today nothing is for sale. The prices, and the rules for buying, renewing and cancelling, are written on the Pricing page, before anyone is charged.

Availability, and what we do not promise

This is a beta. We may change, pause or stop the product, or any part of it, at any time. It is provided as it is. We do not promise that it is accurate, that it is always available, or that it fits any particular purpose, and to the extent the law allows, Human Commons is not liable for loss that comes from using it. Where the law gives you rights that these terms cannot take away, those rights stand.

How to reach us

For anything in these terms, or if a story got something wrong, write to buildwith@bayesianleaf.co. A person reads that inbox. What we collect, and what we do with it, is in the Privacy Notice.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. If they change in a way that matters, the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to listen after a change means you accept the changed terms.
